Welding
Structural rust and corrosion are among the most common reasons older vehicles fail their MOT. Sills, floor sections, chassis rails, and outriggers are all vulnerable, particularly on vehicles used year-round in areas where road salt is applied in winter. However, with the right welding work, many vehicles that would otherwise be written off can be brought back to a roadworthy standard.
A Hedley Motor Engineers carries out repair welding for MOT-related structural work and general bodywork repairs. This includes:
We won’t weld a vehicle that isn’t worth saving so before committing to repair work, we’ll carry out a proper assessment of the extent of the corrosion and give you an honest view of whether the cost makes sense against the vehicle’s value and condition. If it does, we’ll do the job properly. If it doesn’t, we’ll tell you that too.
If your vehicle has failed its MOT on structural grounds, we can inspect it, carry out the necessary welding, and put it through a retest. Welding work is always followed by appropriate treatment to slow future corrosion where accessible.
Get in touch at our Chester-le-Street workshop for an assessment. We work on cars, vans, and commercial vehicles.
