Engine Management
The engine management system is the brain of your vehicle. It monitors and controls everything from fuel injection timing and air intake to emissions systems and ignition. When something in that network falls out of range, the system logs a fault and, in many cases, illuminates the engine management light on your dashboard.
An engine management light doesn’t always signal an emergency, but it should never be left uninvestigated. It could indicate something as straightforward as a faulty sensor or a loose fuel cap. Equally, it could point to a more significant issue with the fuel system, emissions equipment, or ignition. The only way to know is to read the fault codes properly and interpret them accurately.
We use professional diagnostic equipment to interrogate the engine management system across all makes and models. Once we’ve read the codes, our technicians draw on their own experience to work out what’s actually causing the fault, rather than simply replacing parts in sequence until the light goes out.
If your engine management light is on, or if your vehicle is running roughly, using more fuel than usual, or lacking power, get in touch. We’ll carry out a full diagnostic at our Chester-le-Street workshop and give you a clear picture of what’s going on.
A Hedley Motor Engineers is proud to be affiliated with the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI), and to partner with Payment Assist to give our customers another way to pay for repair bills.
